Erosion Control Along Riverbank

Luke and his helpers completed a project to help solve erosion problems along the bank of the Clinton River in the area of MacArthur Park in Mount Clemens, Mich. The erosion was due to storm water runoff and subsequent rising water.

Luke raised over $2,000 for supplies and led a group of Scouts to complete the project. Now the area has erosion control matting and coir log, topsoil, mulch and native plants, which has improved the erosion issues. Luke also decided the park could use some additional improvements and the team added a bench, plants and a rock border at the top of the riverbank, so people can enjoy seeing the water without entering the erosion control area.
