Constructed a Memorial Bench at a Fishing Pond

Lonnie and his helpers built a memorial bench in honor of Kevin Donahue. Each year, Salem City and the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources host Kids Fishing Day at Salem Pond, welcoming more than 1,600 children of all abilities for a day of fishing. Mr. Donahue played a key role in founding and growing the event through his charitable organization, Kids with Disabilities Adventures, before his passing from cancer in December 2023. The bench offers visitors a place to rest while enjoying the pond and its surroundings.

During Kids Fishing Day, Lonnie volunteered six hours, assisting participants as they caught their first fish.

Additionally, Lonnie and his helpers organized a collection drive that gathered over 140 new and used fishing rods and reels for the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources’ Urban Fishing Program. This program introduces children in underserved communities to fishing and the outdoors.
