Cavan and his helpers improved the main entrance and first section of the trail at the Morrill Allen Phillips Wildlife Sanctuary in Hanover, Mass. He and his team widened and cleared the first 0.09 miles of trail, removing brush, fallen logs, litter and debris and repairing a historic rock wall. They restored the entrance sign, refreshed the monument stone area and added wood chips to cover hazardous roots. At the end of the improved trail section, they installed a new wooden sign with trail blazes and QR codes linking to maps, Leave No Trace resources, conservation guidelines and safety information. Thanks to the Town of Hanover and many volunteers, the project provides safer, easier access to the Sanctuary’s protected woodland.
