Renovated Middle School Courtyard

Calvin and his helpers transformed the DEF Core, a hexagon-shaped courtyard at the center of Talbert Middle School, into a more attractive and welcoming space for students. The courtyard features two half-octagonal brick walls facing each other, with dirt strips along the outer sides where trees once stood. Over time, these areas had become overgrown with weeds and were in need of improvement.

As part of the project, planters were constructed and filled with native Southern California plants, helping to promote sustainability while enhancing the appearance of the courtyard. Benches were installed and the area was painted to create a more inviting atmosphere. The completed project revitalized the space, providing students with a comfortable place to gather, socialize and enjoy their school environment.

  1. I am a huge fan of this project. The average middle schooler deserves something nice too. Most eagle projects are for something very special and specific but usually leave out the little guys. Middle school was mad chuddy for me and I think that goes for everyone, so I’m glad these little dudes have something to actually stop and smile at.
