Collected, Repaired and Donated Bicycles

Gavin and his helpers collected and fixed up old bicycles to donate to people in need. Over two days, they gathered around 100 bikes from the local transfer station, where many were being thrown away. Gavin saw a chance to keep them out of the landfill and put them to good use.

In the following days, they cleaned the bikes and used parts from broken ones to repair those that were still in good shape. With help from the Rolling Waves Foundation, Gavin found places to donate the bikes. Some went to families in Brockton, others to a school in Boston to help kids learn how to ride, and some to people in need in Chelsea. The rest of the bikes were taken apart and donated to an organization that brought them to Cameroon, Africa, where they could be used by local communities.
