Restored Eroded Riverbank

Sushanth and his helpers restored an eroded section of the Henry Fork River in Hickory, North Carolina, to stabilize the riverbank and improve the surrounding habitat. The project included planting rivercane, native saplings and other vegetation using live staking techniques, along with installing coir matting, erosion-control fabric and wooden stakes to secure the soil while the plants became established. Despite the steep terrain which made planting difficult, the completed project reduced erosion, reinforced the riverbank and helped restore the area’s natural ecosystem.
