Built Outdoor Classroom for Township

Residents count on the Avon Township Center to provide needed services, but the property behind the Center was unused and empty. So Kevin and his team of 120 volunteers designed and built the Avon Township Outdoor Classroom to provide a free, low-maintenance outdoor space for community events and teaching.

The Outdoor Classroom includes a wheelchair-accessible ramp, solar and electric lighting, and was the impetus for expanding the township property. It is the focal point of a park that now includes a picnic area, community garden, and walking trail. It is also used by homeschool groups, preschools, and the larger community for outdoor gatherings, giving the township’s residents their very own backyard.
